The Person Behind the Work

About Kieran McCluskey

AI mentor, IT consultant, published author and app developer, based in Perth, Western Australia.

30+ Years Making Technology Clear

I started my technology career writing applications and technical training manuals, which turned out to be the best possible foundation for everything that followed. To write a manual that actually works, you have to understand the technology well enough to explain it to someone who doesn't. That discipline has shaped how I approach every engagement.

Over more than 30 years, I've worked across IT strategy, project management, solution design, product development, and software delivery, spanning government, enterprise and education. Now I've turned that experience towards AI: helping individuals, teams, and small businesses understand it, use it well, and build with it.

I'm also a published author. The Jess's Coding Adventure series teaches kids to code through story-driven adventures, and writing those books draws directly on the same skills I've been honing since day one: making complex things genuinely accessible.

Sugarolly Mountain is intentionally small. You work with me directly, not through a team of account managers. That means honest conversations, practical advice, and no unnecessary overhead.

"If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. That's been my guiding principle for over 30 years, and it's exactly why I love working with AI right now."

Strengths & Approach

๐Ÿ“

30+ Years Writing Technical Content

From training manuals to kids coding books, a career built on making hard things understandable. That's the lens I bring to AI mentoring and consulting.

๐Ÿค–

Hands-On AI Practitioner

I use AI tools every day, in my work, my writing and my app development. The guidance I give comes from genuine hands on experience, not theory.

๐Ÿ“š

Published Author

The Jess's Coding Adventure series is live on Amazon. Writing for kids demands absolute clarity, no jargon, no assumptions. That standard carries into everything I do.

๐Ÿ’ก

Builder, Not Just Advisor

I build real things: apps, games, tools. The BBQ Smoker Times app and It's Pink! game are both live and working. I don't just talk about development; I do it.

๐Ÿง

Neurodiversity Awareness

Personal and professional experience supporting neurodiverse individuals in technology. Inclusive thinking isn't a checkbox. It's how I naturally approach problems.

๐Ÿค

Direct & Honest

You talk to me, not an account manager. I'll tell you what I think, what I'd do, and what I'd avoid, even if that's not what you were expecting to hear.
